Sorry for the repeat question, but for those that are tuned - are you following the 15k service schedule or doing something extra like a 7.5k oil change etc?

I might upset a few but after going in my wife's new s3 sedan I have to say it's definitely another level of class above the VW! Interior and features way better.
I much prefer look of the R vs the hatch s3 though!
I definitely find the stock performance lacking compared to stage 1 tune with intake and pedal box!
The S3 is the top of the Audi '3' series range - until the RS3 Sportback is released of course. Sure it's not the top Audi, but then the Golf R isn't the top VW by a long shot either.
My S3 (sedan) is costing me about $10k over an aggressively priced high-spec R, but it's absolutely loaded in comparison - well above what is possible in the Golf range unfortunately. And although they share the MQB platform, they drive very differently too. Big difference in perceived build quality as well.
End of the day, they're both great cars. It depends on what your priorities are and what's important to you as to which car makes more sense. Just don't assume they're the same car to be in or to drive, because they're really not.

another funny interesting review
Hi All
Ive had my new Golf R since September and have done 17,000kms on it.
It came with a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 235/35/R19 91Y which i will soon need to be replaced which cost around $430 each.
I saw these, Mayrun MR500 235/35/R19 91Y which are a "cheap" Chinese brand for $145 each.
Mayrun MR500 235/35R19 91Y Tyres - Buy Online $145
Does anyone have any experience or advice on these?
I don't really do anything crazy on my car, mainly freeway kms and passing through roundabouts in a 100km zone.
With the low cost, i could wear out around 3 sets for the same price as a set of Bridgestones.
Anyone have experience, knowledge or opinions with Mayruns?

I really think you need to treat the Golf R with respect, give it decent quality tyres.
You can have a set of German made Goodyear FIA2 for $1070 from Melbourne (Croydon Goodyear)
4 x 235/35r19 - $1070
Good price on Goodyear Tyres

Chinese made tyres are worthy of burnout master FalcoDores only, not German made performance cars BUT it could be just me.
It is amazing some people just pay full retail prices for tyres, but without these people the tyre industry won't continue...
