US review of a golf R manual
I hate to admit it, but I'm loving Eco mode! Enough power for day-to-day driving without ending up in the back of the truck in front of you, but if you need to, just nudge down the shifter or keep pushing the load pedal until it clicks. Quieter too. I think Eco should use the comfort suspension setting, rather than normal, but that's where Individual comes in.
Have you tried it? I actually think the behavior is the same. I notice the fuel consumption drops to zero when coasting in both Individual with Eco and Eco mode.
What's Eco mode?
Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.
Just joking. I've not had mine long enough to start really tinkering with things. I do find race too loud for regular driving but Eco too dull. That said, I don't even know what my fuel consumption is like.
I've said it before, there needs to be a stealth button. Quiet and fast. I'm not sure how much of the noise I hear in the cabin is heard outside but it is way louder than the Mk 6 (got a buyer coming to pick my old one up in the morning who hoo). I don't want to attract too much attention in town. Eco is quieter but too slow.
I find I'm stuck in normal most of the time, just like the old car.
