    Even then there are problems
It is the attitude if the VW employees that put me off. I love the cars.

My GTI is turning 4 and it has been reliable (i accept the timing chain tensioner risk).

Some professions are just hopeless. Yesterday there was a 40 mnts delay for my bus to arrive in the CBD (which was understandable after a huge storm). BUT, mid way through the route (there was only 15mnts to go to the end) the driver announced that he had finished his shift so everyone had to get off and catch the next bus!!

Fair enough, seems in this economic climate no company pays unapproved overtime even if it would lead to better customer satisfaction.

Even Austral told me that they are cutting back on staff in the servicing department, I cant recall exactly but my local I think has been slashed in half.

    Anyway, back to the R's...

From other forums people seem to suggest 18x8 being the most appropriate size to change to if you are going to get new wheels? Any feels on this? Simply look at something 5x112 ET50?

Really liked the Enkei RSM9s but they dont come it matte...

18x8 +50 on the new R would be very conservative but will look right on factory height.

The fenders are wider than mk6 body.

They only say 18" because we are the very few that get 19's standard. I dont know why you would want to drop down a size, it would cause too much arch gap. Just my opinion though.

    More gap if he uses 225 40 18. With 235 40 18, it is better although diameterwise it is still.smaller than 235 35 19.

Congrats on the arrival. How long was the long wait?
I'm sick of my dealer not being able to give me even an 'estimated' delivery date on my R, I've been waiting forever. It's getting old real quick.

I'm running 19x8.5 +44 and the rear guards are perfect almost flush, front have about 5mm poke when not lowered. When lowered thats reduced to about 2mm due to negative camber.

If you wanna tuck the wheels all the way, wait for superpro LCA's (lower control arms) to be released and then you can have more negative camber

Really just looking to match stock since it is a daily driver.

As for dropping down to 18's, I am actually considering 17's also just due to the price increase as you seem to hit 17+.

Please dont go 17" and ruin the car lol. I cant see the logic in buying a 60k car and not being able to afford 2-3grand for a set of rims if you go down the modifying(looks/performance) of a car way.
