Do you guys know if the dealers actually need to do anything other than the checking fluids etc for the complimentary 1000k service? I have checked all my fluids and everything is within range so wondering if there’s any point in me wasting my time taking the car to the dealer. Don’t have any issues with the car so far other than a missing tyre valve cap…I don’t even know how that happen.

    Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

Nat225, google is your friend or the Rforum.co.uk has a whole thread devoted to it(mind you out of the 50+pages there is little to go on) my summary is turbo failures have been very rare and down to a faulty batch but still within the 5% failure rate of all cars made.

Genez not sure if its just your dealership but you dont have to do a 1000km service anymore on VW's as they are serviced when they receive the car with 1st service done at 15000km. The 1000km recommendation is there to basically fix any minor faults like rattles ect as they wont fix them under warranty once you have done a couple of 1000kms

I have seen that post (i am an active member there for almost 5 yrs now).

My post above was to find out how common or how rare the defect is.

I was going to pull the trigger to buy one this month, however from my past experience with some VW service not all of them care about customer service.

In fact, a vw kedron sales guy became offensive as soon as i expressed my concern. Not the type of response i expected to bring me forward with a deal!!

Money is not the issue, but the inconvenience of having one with the fail lottery jackpotting (say while on happy laps lakeside raceway?) I doubt they will ever be helpful to replace the turbo. I may want to look elsewhere after owning 4 VWs (incl the famous 118tsi that had engine replaced).

Yes I know exactly what you mean when you mention vw service The VW dealer at the valley is even worse those guys over there are quite arrogant, I bought mine at VW dealer in mt gravatt good service at the dealer but the worst service at Mansfield Service and parts, I never experience something like that, there is a blond lady and a guy from south africa apparently the manager of the dealer that are the worse people at customer service, when my cars have service I have to take them to capalaba where they have been very friendly, or the service at the valley nothing special normal service over there but never been rude to me or damage my cars.

the very reason I am not buying it until sorted out 100%.

I have had similar experiences before with VW Parramatta, they just like to muck around with customers.

I'm the opposite. This is my first VW and i'm jumping in knowing full well I could be in for a rough ride with support from VWA and reliability of the car. Obviously still early days but so far in my first 2000k, it's been good, just hope it continues this way.

More importantly, the car has been very fun to drive and I'm willing to put up with some reliability issues if it means I get more satisfaction from driving it. The only down side is the drone, don't understand why VWA has programmed the exhaust valve differently to the non detuned cars.

So to you Nat I say just do it. From I have read, VW has revised the turbo for the newer cars and from what I can gather from reading a few different forums, the issue doesn't seem to be widespread.

If you're looking at it that way, no car manufacturer will satisfy your needs. Unless you're buying a Ferrari, Lambo etc...
    Even then there are problems
