^ Hainsey & Sekas are on the money, my R's stop/start wouldn't switch 'on' if I had a/c on and handnt travelled for long and the a/c hadn't reached temperature, or if I was at the lights and turned the a/c on then the motor would come on. Must say I like the stop/start function and associated auto hold function, good chance to take your R foot off the pedals and stretch/relax etc

Aircon is off (I like the wind in my beard ), lights are on auto and it has been sunny days.

Phone is connected via bluetooth and I cannot think of anything else that would be consuming power... I am going to check the fluid levels and if anything needs a topup check if I can drop the car in for a pitstop service and see if they are topped up for free. Then also ask about this start-stop behavior and also the rear passenger side window, what sounds like the electric motor is really struggling to wind up/down the window - almost like the pane may not be fitted straight.

Quick question about that tho, since having the APR carbon fibre intake fitted - what are VW generally like with mods? As soon as they see them assume they are the cause if any issues or do they investigate thoroughly to find the actual cause? Just wondering if its actually worthwhile to swap in-and-out the stock/APR one during getting the car inspected/serviced.

I got told with my mods that for general servicing ect they are fine to stay in. As for defects or investigative purposes they told me to return it to stock as they would access the car how it was givin to them as then they dont have to tell VWA that the car has mods(minor issues, major all data gets sent to germany and thats where they can see TD1 flags, not at dealerships i.e turbo failures).
So all in all, 15mins to remove tuning box and cable loom, 15min to take my apr intake out and put the stock one back in. Yer springs can stay there. Not to much effort

Latest episode of TopGear America features the Mk7 Golf R... up against a Porsche and Lamborghini... oh well, still worth a watch if you can find it.

That episode is really not worth watching.

They do some really lame testing of the R versus the Porsche and Lambo in car parks and "agility" testing going around cones etc then getting to the Nurburgring the guy drives a race version of a Golf with 450BHP, roll cage etc so you cant even compare it against the Porsche and Lambo.

    Felt really jibbed.

    Vibration noise

Hi guys, has anyone had any luck with this noise? My Golf has started doing it to and it's driving me nuts. Only happens when I'm off the throttle and cruising down a hill or braking and it sounds like its coming from the door. Can anyone help? I've got the car booked in to be checked next week but am worried they won't find anything!!

    Golf R Rattle Fixed

Great work from VW Southern yesterday regarding a rattle I started to hear in the dash. With only 700KMs on the clock I took the car up through the Adelaide hills, it was the first time I opened it up a little. Probably 45 minutes into my fun I heard a rattle as I was slowly accelerating mainly at low rpms ..... I am thinking noooo!!! I started to pull everything out of pockets etc but no luck. So I did the dreaded call to VW and to my surprise they said bring it in straight away and were really great about it.

The issue was a cable in the back of the engine bay going up through the plastic cowling, probably for the wipers. The cable work itself loose as I was giving it some. All fixed and away I went.

I also realised the importance of the individual mode, I found the roads I was driving on in the hills were shocking and I need to soften up the suspension, so a great option to have.

Good news Jase, very annoying the rattles and a bonus when they're quickly fixed!
