Yep. Quote for Pretorias a couple of months ago was $7500 landed! Nice. But not that nice.

It should be fairly east to put a switch in the wire to the Soundaktor. I know people have done it in Mk6, mostly on USA forums. They ran it to one of the blanks in front of the gear knob and bought a matching switch to fit in the blank. If you were really clever you could do the same for the exhaust valves too, although it would be somewhat more involved, and have best of both worlds.

I got my soundakator turned off at the dealers - absolutely no trouble and about 5 minutes to do and no charge. I guess you could add a switch but honestly I love it without. But that is just for me though!
If only VWA would ask Germany to reprogram valve controller (ECU), the car would be perfect I reckon.
That's approximately $300 more than from a dealer's spare parts dept without a discount, where a minimum of 10% should be achievable anyway. However, anybody would be crazy to buy a set, when you can buy after-market, and get something much lighter and stronger for about half the cost of any of the OEM 19" wheels.
I'll have to remember to get them to disable it if I do end up getting an R. It did sound softer when I put it into comfort mode, but if it can be disabled that would probably be my preference.
With regards to adjustment to the butterfly valves, is this something a workshop can do?
If you have access to VCDS, you can adjust the Soundaktor loudness in 5% increments from the standard setting of 100% down to 0%, but most people find somewhere between 50% and 75% to be acceptable. This would be better than just disconnecting the electrical plug from the unit and having no further options.
The dealer did it via their computer - it is adjustable infinitely between 0% and 100%. I reckon maybe you should start at 75 or 50% first and if that is too loud then get them to turn it off. I think the engine has a nice tone without it going at all though.
Unfortunately I was told that the exhaust valves are not adjustable as the control is done from within the main engine ECU and not a module and this area is not accessible using VCDS apparently so someone who knows ECU programming needs to do it. That is why I approached VWA "Customer Care" who just didn't care haha.
Can anyone just confirm for me if the Cadiz are 18 or 19-inch?
Conflicting hits all over the internet regarding what size they actually are.
As per sekas.
The only conflict will be that they come in both sizes overseas, the same as Mk6 and the Talladegas. VWA just decided nobody would want 18s on the Mk7 and so all cars come with one wheel size only..![]()
