This totally makes me feel awesome about buying an R...

Car prices could tumble as government considers industry upheaval

The best thing I can see coming out of this is the morons who create ADRs losing their jobs and Australia harmonising with say European standards.

Per the article I can't see it feasible importing a lower priced vehicle by the time you factor in all the costs and loss of economies of scale. I suspect it would need to be second hand as well, new cars would be protected by territory agreements (where imports are done by third party groups as opposed to VWA which is owned directly by VAG) and good luck making a warranty claim on it!

Pity they aren't for baby seats! I am about to be a father, thought I could get a nice ISOFIX unit here, but nup, and they have made it illegal to not run an Aus standard one!!
I am in NZ at the moment and they often have Au/NZ approved units, but these days here they are using EU standards from the few shops I have looked at, so I am screwed.

Sadly you will still be fined if caught using the best seats in the world, Recaro.

I even asked both my local member and the Government directly why they made it illegal for me to use the best seat in the world for Junior Dubber to no avail.

I know VW did a run of child seats in GTI tartan for their domestic market - not sure if there was an R version - but again can't source here.

For those who may not have seen it in the other thread, I removed the front number plate mounting on my R:

    I think it looks better.
