^the sunroof is nice to have when you have a color that contrast the black of the glass, like in white silver red or even blue in a black car would be more a need since it is not as noticeable as in the other colours however, the fact that you can lift the sunroof also gives that bit of extra sportiness to the car, also some times is fun to have it.
In my opinion i like the way it contrast the white of my car plus it matches really well the rest of the black parts of the car I would get it in the deal.

I was the same, the last car I had did have a sunroof, however when fully retracted it went into the roof cavity, whereas the golf r now sits on top of the roof, Sergio I agree about the "sporty look" when tilted but when I saw it in the showroom sitting on top of the roof I had to pass, does anyone know if the s3 is the same setup or does it go into the roof cavity??

The S3 has exactly the same sunroof. This is the new standard or norm for many new models being produced by VAG and MB, if not other German/Euro auto makers.

Have you got a date for your R delivery yet?

No exact date, but it's on the Tongala, which I'm tracking, and yesterday it was off the Moroccan coastline, due in Melbourne on 30/9, so 2 weeks after that it should be in my hands.

Mikey1, my R's also on the Tongala, I've got it tracked on the Track and Trace website (shows Port stops only), but how do you track the Ship day by day? (seems like it is currently on a long 3 week stretch without hitting a port)

Andrew, it's slow progress to Oz, next stop the small French island of Reunion (between Madagascar and Mauritius), ETA 15/9. This tool makes the wait slightly more bearable: TONGALA - Vehicles carrier: current position and details | IMO 9605786, MMSI 215654000, Callsign 9HA2776 | Registered in Malta - AIS Marine Traffic
    Enjoy!

Lately, I'm seeing a lot more new Golf R's on the roads in my neighbourhood, all in visually OEM configuration. However, they're mostly white, which concerns me as I will only add to this mundaneness of sorts. Except of course, I will have replaced my standard wheels with a quality set of after-market ones, which should slightly differentiate mine from all others. FWIW, my motivation to change wheels was also driven by my desire to not be locked into using hideously expensive OEM wheels, should I be unfortunate enough to kerb them in daily use. Yeh I know the R has a left mirror than tilts, etc in reverse, but we don't always back into parking spaces. I priced a replacement Cadiz wheel from Bayford Volkswagen at $1,804.95, incl. GST. Even with a loyality discount of 10%, to replace or get a spare wheel at $1,624, I would never bother. Of course, Wheel Solutions in Richmond do a fine job of repairing most wheels still in one piece, though it will never be like new, if that's your expectation. Therefore, based on my limited experience, you should never have to pay more than $1,000 for a quality after-market wheel, and probably a lot less if you stick with something cast rather than forged. Also, I dislike black wheels, but that's just me.

Great to hear Aaron, my Golf R is only weeks away...tracking it using the Marine app. I noticed your in Adelaide, give Southern VW a go. They were great with me .... great price first off the bat. They are a new dealership so I think they want to please early.

Also Dane Lascelles was the person I purshased from.

    Good luck with negotiations
