The S3 costs ~$5k more but comes standard with leather seats, a nicer infotainment system, 18" wheels (in case you don't like 19s) and possibly one or two other things I've forgotten.

Anyone know what this button does that sits next to the drivers door just below the seat belt?

I think it allows you to turn off the interior sensors when you are in the car so you don't set off the alarm when the doors are locked
Yes, it disables the alarm (i.e. for if you ever need a tow). The manual lists other use cases
toggles the passenger seat ejector on and off
Anyone had any gearbox issues? I got a gearbox error on mine today saying reverse was unselectable and front assist was disabled. At the same time, lost the gear indicator on the display (D1, etc), and wouldn't change. Pulled over and turned the engine off and on again. Seemed ok for a couple of minutes but then got the same message again (repeated the process a few times). Now have a warning light on which indicates a faulty catalytic converter! Looks like the VW dealer will be getting a call first thing tomorrow!! :(
While this is disappointing, I've been loving the car so far!!
