Yeah that would be the wiser move mikey, guess some want to be honest & the rest can't be botherd lol
I have always wondered why enthusiasts have modified their cars to their liking and then sell them with mods still in-place. Wouldn't it make more sense to return their cars to stock standard, and sell the hardware mods separately. At least with standard parts fitted, no prospective buyer will be the wiser. Perhaps this is not very transparent, but as always, caveat emptor!

Appreciate some people shy away from modifications but I'd rather be honest like most people are on this forum when selling their pride and joy. The car was offered in both stock and modified state, given how many GTIs and Rs are modified I think most second hand buyers accept this.
Factory options add nothing to the value except in rare cases, mine only had leather and bluetooth, was immaculate as the local VWW contingent can attest and was under 20,000km.
As most would be aware by now I'm fairly in touch with what something is worth and how to work a deal, and was priced under $30k. I can be honest - it was wholesaled for $26.5k, and the dealer had it advertised at $29.5k. I'm guessing it went for no more than $29k. Point is I had a deal done for the other car and needed to move it on.
To be honest I'd pick a second hand car like this clearly looked after by an enthusiast than an unknown stock example that probably was thrashed out of the driveway every day.
Anyway I'm drifting off topic from the R here so I'll end it there.![]()

I can tell you that the S3 is not a good car if you're into drifting.... I tried (on a race track).
The RS4 on the other hand is much better.![]()
