Must be same on the GTI. The light in the garage is on the blink and was wondering why I was getting no joy on that either.

Yes the lights are on auto. It comes on when I use the fob to unlock the door (leaving home) but not when I get out of the car after stopping the engine.

So I've just tried this and it worked. Flashed the high beam (weird that I have to do this everytime?) and open the doors, lights came on for 15 secs. If only there's a way to make sure it comes on everytime the driver door opens after the engine stops that'd be great.

    VCDS mod maybe?

My coming home lights work as soon as I open the car door. No need to flash the main beam. I don't remember having to code it to do this. Just set it in the MFD.

I have read that it can be somehow disabled, and Iv read from people on international forums that they have, but no details have emerged. E.g can it be done yourself? Or is it a dealer/service job only? I too would be interested in switching it off.

Anyone noticed the incandescent turning globe that highlights your turning direction (both activate when reversing). Pretty cool! Just wish the colour matched the xenons/LEDs...
