Have to disagree there Magellan, one of the frustrations commonly voiced was the need to "build" each car and consequent delays (5-6 mths in my case). With the MK7 ,for example, I like the look of the PP as its 'ready made" with extra performance and features. Should'nt be too hard to pick one up without a huge delay once the initial buzz wears off (I wont be looking to upgrade until mid 2015)

No mate, VW most definitely does not deliver Also thanks to VW's PR disaster in the last 6-12 months by not addressing multiple issues (whether they were beaten up rubbish by The Age or genuine problems) the resale value of our cars has plummeted and more than the general market. I CANNOT believe you are not bringing out optioned up GTI's in the first batch of cars coming here. My dealer is very embarrassed. I tried to compromise on options but he cannot find anything for 6-8 months and they'll only offer me $20 grand for a car barely 3 years old with minimal kms on it. And it would be re-valued in 6-8 months time for what, $15,000???
Do you work in the PR department because VW has failed to keep a very loyal customer who has been trying to defend you on Facebook for months. I cannot believe the level of hatred directed towards your company and you've sat back and refused to address it.

Volkswagen has had some pho-par's in terms of pricing: MKIV R32 (75K) in Aus and recently the Golf R Convertible price had to be cut in the U.K. as the price was too ambitious. Other marques like BMW have buy-back deals provided owner trades in on new model. Volkswagen does not.

The Golf R is stated to be 90kgs heavier than the GTI ... which should make the Golf R 40kgs heavier than the PP GTI DSG. The Golf 7 'R' still laps the Nurburgring 21km circuit 11 sec faster than the PP GTI and has a bit of that extra weight pushed to the rear end of the vehicle, making it less front heavy.

Bundling is good for stock availability ... not that there is much stock of Golf 7 GTI's atm. It would have been better to speak with owners as to what is bundled and what is not.

Went and test drove the GTI yesterday, definitely pulls much more effortlessly with the extra torque. I found the progressive steering to be too light in normal/comfort mode though, sport mode was alright in terms of weight.

My dealer also mentioned that most vehicles are either stock or comes with leather & sunroof. Will wait to see what the performance pack is like when it comes out.

Vehicle manufacturers will always price their vehicles according to whatever the market is willing to pay.

If Australian sales of the new GTI reach or exceed the anticipated forecast numbers, then the current pricing structure will have been judged correctly and be deemed a success for this market.

When sales numbers start to waver (either now or into the future), they may of course, restructure it to entice more consumers in order to keep the flow of sales.

    It's business - nothing personal.

Why would anyone with such angst against VW be even remotely interested in purchasing another? Your posts, overall, seem very negative towards VW.
How is your dealer "embarrassed"... that he can't make a sale? Compromised on options? Didn't we just talk about the minimal options available? You go in, order the car you want and wait. Or you go to a Mercedes Dealer, order an A250, spend $6000 with options, place an order and then wait 6-8 months for one.

Can some one please help me, with there not being many GTI around, if you order and it has to be built, is the normal process to revalue your car when the new one comes...

If this is the case, cant the dealer just give you a low offer the second time around?

You may need to read the specific contract to be sure. But, they can do that. But it may mean that you can then exit the contract (you need to check). If they are smart they will work out the changeover price based on the value of your car when the GTI comes in.

I negotiated that the price would be held (for a Highline) on my trade in (which was 12 years old, so wasn't worth a lot), and that I had the right to sell my car rather than trade it in (turned out to be more trouble than it was worth). I was told a 3 mth wait when I ordered, turned out to be closer to 4 mths, but very happy with the result.
