Can't be bothered PMing and you guys don't know me so you can't gossip about spending too much money.
As I would have with GTi, I paid sticker price because it's a new model and isn't released until December.
Audi S3 S-Tronic Misano Red
Roof Rails
Metallic Paint
$68,228.56
Repayments really aren't that much more than what the GTi will be. Build date of week 51, 2013 and delivery expected Feb 2014.
What annoyed me the most about VW was the fact that Audi's car is released in December, but it's been available to order since July. All pricing and specifications have been known for quite some time.
The GTi launches October. Nobody knows the price and you can't order one other than to pay a deposit on a MkVI GTi and hope they can configure your car...not that it matters because the good GTi isn't released until the beginning of next year, if at all.
If you're looking at the std GTI ... why not a GTD with better fuel economy & plusher ride quality:

if people are complaining about the lack of info about the GTI in Australia than the GTD has no chance of even being under consideration
Lots of manufacturers wait until the last minute on pricing. The Golf GTI has become just another standard stocked item (20%+ of Golf sales) for VW. They will shipped them here in the thousands with most buyers taking whats in stock
The S3 will sell in such small numbers that it will essentially will be built to order.

I didn't there was much to choose from with just the one $5000 optional package (besides choosing the colour)
Got my VIN today. Car is well and truly in Melbourne and has cleared compliance. Looking like it will make the first of the deliveries. Getting a little excited.
