Yeah it boggles the mind that they're almost the same price there...

Heres the thread for those interested.

    Mk7 Golf GTI Discussion Thread

These will be as common as a holes at dealers in no time. Remember how hard Toyota 86s were to get a year ago? Now dealers have plenty of stock and not much wait time. If you believe that GTI stock will be low forever and all, then you also believe in the Easter bunny and tooth fairy

The BMW is rubbish from all reports and I've had 2 second hand 80's Beemers and loved them. This was before stupid run flat tyres. BM have also lost their wonderful balance of supple yet sporty suspension ( as well as the cheap tyres). The interior of the 1 series is clearly inferior to the Golf in quality and design. I think the exterior looks like a butchered Polo, particularly from the back. The posers in their BM's can have it. I buy the superior car now and it just happens to be 30 grand cheaper! Bonus! Can't wait for the new GTI.

Most reports I've seen for a M135i have been nothing but praise...I have a F30 328 Msport along with my GTI...two different cars but the Beemer is a fantastic car to drive!

yep was the same wiht the mk6 when I got mine. when they first came out, unless you pre ordered there was a wait. but if like with the mk6 if you just wait till march next year...like i did ...then you will be able to walk in the dealers and they will be trying their best to get rid of what stock they have on the floor.

ofcourse like with any brand or model if wanting something re options or combination of options unlike what they have in stock then yeah a case of hopefully already something similar on the ship or a factory order and you will be waiting until order placed, slot in assembly line, manufactured, shipped, and cleared which can be months ...
    Once had a Red mk6 GTI + DSG + leather + sunroof + mdi + towbar

now have a gorgeous Red Merc A250 AMG Sport

I was at the dealer yesterday having a look at my 110 TDI Highline in pre delivery and the the finance manager indicated that VWA had around 60 Mk6 GTI's still on inventory and until this stock came down to something reasonable i.e <10 quickly VWA may delay the release of the 7 GTI!

I dunno. The only reason I got to talking to the salesman at VW is because I asked him how much his only MKVI GTi was. He told me $44k but I would be crazy not to wait. Literally talked me out of it.

    Mustn't have got the memo.

There are about 70 new Golf GTIs on Carsales. But alot seem to be DSG (60+) or have options that push the price to at least 46K+

Not saying there aren't heaps of MkVI GTis out there, just saying that this guy wasn't exactly pushing the MkVIs out the door.
