I'm surprised you'd have to pay extra for insurance on bixenons. And I've never had to change my bixenons on our 8 year old GTI before we sold it, and I've had 10 year old Evo 8MRs with bixenons still working properly. My old Mitsubishi may have had a dodgy auto box but its bixenon lights also was not an area of low reliability.

We have a 77TSI Mk6 Golf with halogens and a Tiguan 155TSI we got later was optioned with the bixenon. Have to say that in my neck of the woods, about 20-30 minutes from Brisbane, the auto-swivelling bixenons are just a godsent. The bixenon just illuminates much further into the distance which becomes very obvious when I switch to the 77TSI halogens.
@readerror - But if you crash into someone/something, they're likely to need replacing, which would cost a lot more than the halogen alternatives.
I don't expect it to be less than $50k. I expect it to be more. I said that.
You missed my point. I don't have a problem with all the extras and their cost.
I enjoyed your use of capitals and bold text to convey your excitement, though.
I'm back! Word is that they are going to have a cheap, boggo GTI as well as a more expensive luxury GTI as well as a more performance orientated model... Whatever that means, all that I am certain about is that the first cars start arriving very soon indeed!
