I assume base spec also weighs a bit less than Highline too (would effect 0-100 time, not dyno)

This really doesn't help VW Australia at all if they don't have the PP at launch...
I thought it had been made clear that the PP was coming to Oz? (not in the first batch but next year)

Having a Gap Year!!!!
what next?... what next?
I'm not expecting anyone to know, but if you do find out... could you let me know if the Audi S3 Intercooler purchased a year or two ago will fit in a Mk7 GTI
Not sure what to do with my one that hasn't been installed
Audi S3 for 2014 is detuned by 15kW ... 206kW & torque remains the same at 380Nm. Not much more power than the power-pack Golf GTI. Golf R MK7 likely to be the same at 206kW, only with a bit more weight than the Audi S3 as it would miss out on the alloy parts that Audi's have.
Car & Driver Mag (USA) seem to think that the Power-Pack Golf GTI MK7 will weigh 32 kgs more than the std GTI with added weight in the haldex system & larger brakes ... weight at the front where you don't want it. Despite what VW are saying that the PP GTI will not weigh any more than the std GTI ... the Haldex system would have to account for some weigh gain imo.
Autocar.co.uk Magazine have weighed the MK7 Golf GTI PP with DSG and a few extras like DCC dampers weighing in at 1450kgs.
