Anyone who has a GTI Original vs GTI - anything you're missing after a few months of ownership? Regrets over not having five doors, or has the lack of adaptive chassis control been a deal breaker?

Trying to gather some thoughts and present a case as to why it would be a viable option to my partner (who isn't convinced a three door is a good way to go).

I had a 3 door Ford years ago, after that my Missus put her foot down and said no more 3 door cars.

+ves I can think of for a 3 door car:

    - B pillar is further back so better vision over driver side shoulder (= better safety)

    - Good excuse not to take unwanted passengers

    - More secure for younger children (they can't get out)

    - Better looking in the eyes of some (not all) people

    Hi Everyone,

I've noticed a couple of posts here and there re the MY19 GTI. Just to revive this.

Has anyone put a deposit down or likely to make a purchase? Keen to understand what people are expecting to pay drive away. Appreciate there's a $1k price rise, but with the run pricing on the MY18 GTI's some months back it's difficult to work out just how much a 'base GTI' should cost (beyond the simple answer of 'what ever you are willing to pay for it'). I'm excited that there's a fair step between the MY18 and MY19 models based on 'standard equip' offered.

Value anyone's perspective on this. I'm talking to a dealer at a price under 45k drive away.

As I suggested last week given R Grid pricing you'd want to be definitely under $45k on a base GTI.

But yeah, whatever you want to pay.

4 months and 5k on the clock with a gti original DSG and Driver assist.
    Pro,s
light and fast enough, easy to live with and great rear seats, absolute hoot to drive and runs great on 95 fuel, even good economy at 7.9 per 100.
    Con,s
doors are huge and you have to watch it in car parks, getting in and out is a bit of a hassle for passengers, has normal key and no heated seats, active suspension would have been nice.

overall the price saving compared to and R or even a 5 dr GTI out weigh its drawbacks. and you save on fuel costs, plus there is only 200 in Australia 100 red 100 white so they may hold their value better so I recommend 3 dr over 5 and save 6 to 7k

I've put a deposit on an MY19 with the luxury pack. The MY19 makes more sense unless you can get an MY18 with a performance pack. But I guess it depends what you want?

What did you end up doing??
