Traffic makes a big difference in fuel consumption. Used to be live close to the city here in Brisbane but that meant I was in stop start traffic on most days and won't get above 60km/h driving to/from work. Averaged about 500-550km/tank then.

Moved out to the suburbs so that meant a round trip of about 55kms but because I don't leave home from work until 0900 ish, when I get on the motorway there's not much traffic to speak of so I spend most of my time cruising at speed to work. Now average about 600-650km/tank thereabouts?

Yes I'm a bit anal on the fuel consumption too. Bloody steering button has got a different feel/sound to it nowadays since I spent a lot of time clicking up and down looking at fuel figures :s
Yea that all sounds pretty reasonable and pretty much on par with how mine is performing, well thats a relief anyway

Ah awesome, I've been also thinking about getting a JB1, seems to be the safest option if you are still under warranty.
Let us know how it goes

Recently also got a res delete and car sounds great, a little drone but sounds sexy, the DSG farts also sound a little 'wet'

After a few days driving my new MK7 GTI I must admit to being very impressed. It feels a lot different to my MK6 which I sold 4 years ago. The weird thing is that at times the car sounds like a diesel ! I'm guessing it is the soundaktor thingo ?

    Congrats.

Is it an MY16? If so, the driving profile ("Individual") can virtually turn the Soundaktor cabin noise off.

Hey Guys, looking to buy a 2013/2014 MK7 GTI. Trying to find one with leather in my area.

Just wanted to know if there's any concerns i should have? Also after driving faster cars my only worry is i'll buy the car and it won't be fun? I don't have the budget for a MK7 golf r.

    Thanks

    Hi Cardje,

Let me try and allay your fears. Having previously owned a number of performance cars including a WRX, MK6 GTI and my other car is a current model 328i (wife's car) and I picked up my new MK7 GTI last week without having test-driven. I was wondering how it would compare in particular to the 328i which is a beast of a car and I still LOVE driving it (180Kw, 0-100 5.9, 350nm) and guess what....

The golf is every bit as good as the 328i. In fact, it might even be smoother and feel zippier...the torque on the golf is amazing even compared to the 328i. You will not be disappointed.

The missus has only driven the golf for about 10kms and she loves it already....wants to swap the 328i with me.

    Hope this helps.

Maybe try and get a Performance Pack model. Mechanical LSD and a few more ponies. Should further allay any fears. Plus, I think VW has 2.8% finance at present if you are looking at new and structuring the purchase that way. Helps a lot too, and lets you access 5 year warranty. Not sure of availability of PP models now - might be rare. Ditto the 40th ED. Even more ponies, and the trick diff...

There are 24 GTI 40 Years cars on Carsales. Most are delivery mileage. There's about 8 that are manual too!

    Golf GTI Seat Comfit

Just wondered what people thought of the seat comfit in these cars. I have a performance pack edition and I already had the lower seat replaced due to the foam on the wing on the seat failing it lasted a 1 and half years ..... they replaced it and I can feel is failed again as I can feel the metal bar again... not happy. I have cyclist legs so quite big my Mk6 GTI never had this problem.
