I really love this car. Being able to get Apple CarPlay in it would make it perfect.

First time with a sunroof, & even on a rainy day, it has its charm...

Got our first service on the GTI from the dealer where we purchased car from. Also got a price for the 2 year VW New Car Extended Warranty (i.e. the insurance issued by Allianz). Price was $2,580 (alledgedly reduced from $3,900). Have rung up a few other dealerships and prices have all been slightly more. Thinking about taking it up for the peace of mind. Anyone else gotten any other significantly better prices or offer advice based on past experience? Like any insurance it's pretty much a gamble to see whether anything goes wrong or not, thiking of getting it now as we can add it to novated lease and salary sacrifice it.

My brother was offered this for his second hand polo recently. After a lot of reading and umming and ahhing he decided against it, however it was more him being a tight arse than it not necessarily being worth the coin. I read the PDS and could see nothing overly 'wrong' with the insurance. I did ask about it on these forums though not much discussion took place. I'd read the PDS cover to cover. If you want the peace of mind then go for it but remember as with any warranty (even factory) don't be surprised if the dealer tires to weasel their way out of honoring it

Go direct to the warranty provider (eg. Allianz) for a better price. Save yourself the dealer's (sometimes huge) commission.

Save yourself the cash and lock it away in case you're unlucky enough that something goes wrong. It's not warranty, it's insurance (unlike some manufacturers who offer real warranty extension) and the house always wins.

Start/Stop's a great feature. Thought it was going to be annoying, but it's great to know VW have thought about fuel-saving in this kind of vehicle.

Electronic Park Brake's also nifty. I call it a smart hand brake - knows when you take off, so it disengages & it's switch is so unobtrusive, allowing room for extra storage/console buttons at your side.

& the Auto-Hold (along with Start/Stop) makes pulling up at lights easy on the feet, even though the brake (& clutch) are light.

    Smart tech!

I should ask, after placing the e-tag behind the rear-vision mirror, I neglected to think of the impact it may have on the Anti-Dazzle sensor. What do you think?...

I think it'll be fine. Next time you can place it higher up in the shaded area (that's where they suggest you put it from memory) - I'll be further out of the way there too

Can you over-ride the auto handbrake's insistence the seatbelt is on before it will release?

Oh I thought the shaded area was a no-go zone for attaching the E-tag, due to it being a sensor of some sort & the fact the adhesive may take some of the shaded area with it if removed?

Ralfi, the anti-dazzle sensor is that small square cut-out on the left-most side (right side to the camera) on the back of the mirror. Your tag is well clear, so would have no effect.
