Heh-heh, same here R is $10-grand outside what I'm prepared to spend (just under $60k on the road down here in Tassie).
Drove the Renault Megane GT220 & 265 Cup - underwhelmed by the former and disliked the later. Looked at the Focus ST but can't get past the boy racer image. Suspect the upcoming Civic Type R will suffer the same issue for me. If the Scirocco had the latest port/direct injection engine I'd be tempted, but I'm not interested in the direct injection only engine.
So I will probably just keep my Mk5 GTI. Only 70-odd thousand kms on her, so plenty of (hopefully reliable) life left.
