    Hi guys,

I went into a vw today and the dealer offered me a new GTI with leather and DSG for 48,400...

This guy said I could get the coorporate discount based on the company I work at and all they need is a letter from my work stating that I work there full time and the car I'm buying is for private use.

A previous VW dealer said that the only way I could get the corporate pricing was if I leased it, not sure why the different answers.

They said they can get one in night blue or I can wait until mid February and get one in carbon grey..

    What do you think?

Does it sound like a good deal?

As stated previously the first dealer obviously had no idea on corporate pricing, how it is financed has nothing to do with it.

Is the $48,400 including corporate discount?

With corporate I'd be pushing for something in the $46-47k range for DSG and leather, I was in the $43s without the leather.

As for color choice that's up to you - they're both nice colors and if I was keen on a car as soon as possible I'd take the one that's here now. I suppose the only difference is that the CSG in February would logically be complianced in 2015 and despite the dealer saying it makes no difference (and it shouldn't) it will make a difference if you try and trade with them in the future.

    Thanks Dutch!

The dealer is saying that I can't get a further discount on top of the corporate, I thought the corporate program was a rebate from vw so there is room to move on the dealer price still :s

Someone on this forum also stated that you have to be eligable for salary packaging of a car to get the corporate pricing is that incorrect as well?

    Cheers

No worries, and yes my understanding was corporate rebate was just that - covered by HQ - so the dealer should still be willing to negotiate to get your business. When I acquired my deal I certainly got both, admittedly it was agreed on the last day of the month which was also the day prior to the $500 increase they put on the Golfs earlier in the year.

Whoever stated the bit about salary packaging is wrong also. I was a cash buyer, so there goes that idea. At the end of the day it's about providing a purchasing incentive to a targeted market from VW's perspective - they don't care how you end up financing and/or packaging the deal.

If your up against a dealer with that information who won't budge and you're ok shopping around then do so!

Thanks again, and yes you are right there are other dealers out there who should want my business. I know what car I want and have the cash to buy today.

For those who have the PP GTI, the electronic front diff is a borgwarner design - FXD. I found a webinar presentation (nearly an hour long) discussing the real world benefits of the technology.

    Hi All,

Picked up my CS GTI PP MY15 last thursday and what a joy to drive!!

Question: Why do i have a button for sunroof when clearly i don't have one??

  9. #2549
    A few possibilities:

VW forgot to install the sunroof.
In case you later decide to install a sunroof.
In case you ever decide to fit an ejector seat.

BTW, what happened to the OP?
If the answer to the Monty Hall problem was 50/50, the contestant, on average, would win the car 50% of the time simply by sticking with their original guess...but you can only win a one-in-three guessing game 33.33% of the time so it can't be 50/50, can it?

    Hey everyone,

I recently put a deposit down on a used GTI-PP from a dealer pending an independent mechanical inspection. The report, which came to me today, found that panel and paint work has been done around the RHS rear panel with a subsequent dent in the undercarriage. Could it have been in a minor accident? Should I avoid this car?

It has received a near perfect score mechanically. I've also test driven it with no problems. Opinions would be appreciated.
