Positive review of the GTI performance online on drive.com.au The GTI PP featured in Carbon steel looking very sharp indeed
It's a good buy if you really want that LSD; or want xenons and can live with the look/really want those 19s.. otherwise a well priced base will still suit a lot of people (me included).
The $500 bump may need review if the Japanese cars eat into the lower end Golfs, but wont have any impact on the GTI/Rs.
I assume it only applies to Japanese manufactured cars so could end up with better discounts on some models overs others that are sourced/made elsewhere.

I wonder how many potential GTI PP owners will or won't stretch to the R
Depends what they are buying it for i think.
If they want the trick diff (which will make no difference in day to day driving) then they will likely step up to teh 4Mo in the R.
If they are just buying it as a package to get the Xenons and other inclusions then they will likely stick with the GTIPP
Indeed, and then to the S3 Performance Pack.... but that's stretching quite far from the GTI
