The previous GTI 3-door in Australia accounted for around 5% of the entire Golf range, so I'm not surprised they're not bringing it in.

If there were sufficient demand, I think they would include it in the lineup, but with numbers like that...

To date, that's my understanding as well.

If VWA were to bring in a 3-door, that's how it might be done - and not likely to be available on a permanent basis.

VWA did seek (and gained) ADR compliance for the 3-door, but as discussed has decided not to sell it for reasons of insufficient volumes. They're rather inflexible when it comes to less usual requests (eg specific options or configurations), but you can understand why from a purely economic perspective.

As they have the compliance, you might be lucky and see a limited run of 3-door special editions (ED40 etc) in a few years prior to the introduction of the Mk8. Maybe.

So seats are half alcantara, still no MDI/media port, LED number plate lights were stock, rims are ugly. That's about it!

n0d3: I think it looks great! (I was about to chastise the negative post until I realized it was your car!). I like the badging and the rims (if you see the wheels in motion, the spacing lets the red calipers glow through).
More importantly though, how is the drive???
