How long does it take to actually build a GTI? A couple of days? My car was scheduled to be built yesterday (Wednesday) but prob now in German time, just wondering when i should expect to receive the VIN number so i can track it?

Some research shows that I can price up an Audi A3 1.4 TFSI Sedan (with some nice options like Technik package, band Olufsen audio, Assistance Package) for about the price of a Golf GTI 7. The car looks great and the interior is very nice. I am waiting for the GTI PP. But with the lack of options offered here, I am starting to wonder if an A3 Sedan might be a good alternative. The S3 Sedan would be over my budget.
I drove the A3 Sedan TDI yesterday (with the Sports package). Although it drove well, the road noise and engine noise bothered me. I am hoping to test the 1.4 TSI w/o the sports package to see if it would be quieter and smoother with the 7sp DSG. Has anyone test driven an A3 Sedan? Better still has anyone bought an A3 Sedan and so can give some feedback.

We test drove the 1.8 ltr Audi A3 sedan, and sportback with s-tronic. They were the basic cars without any options, they were good, S-tronic was very smooth, and plenty of grunt, very surprised at how quick the acceleration was.
We compared the price of a 2 ltr Quattro, and ticked all the options we would get, it would had cost just under a based S3, so after few more test drive, we settled on an S3 sedan and placed an order.
