It landing on the 26th of this month - and then I believe it takes about two weeks to get it ready for me to pick up. Then I just need to arrange tinting unless I just get the dealer to do it prior to hand over.

You can do even better than that:

For under $50k you can get Manual, Bi-xenons, sunroof and Driver assist.

While I know people like their auto-changers, a number of reporters have described the 6M in the new GTI as "how a manual gear box should be" and "one of the best" if not the best. Praise for the DSG is usually qualified. But then again, some reviewers have a bias towards the elegant simplicity of a good manual transmission, like this one in TheMotorReport.com.au, but praise for the DSG is rarely unqualified:

"We like the manual, but as a performance transmission VW’s twin-clutch is hard to beat.

"Low-speed engagement can be a bit iffy when trying to crawl through traffic jams, but when underway gear-changes are lightning-fast."

So there's a $2,500 saving and the bonus of using a superlative gearbox, that challenges you to shift as fast as lightning, t'boot!.

I believe the option is Driver Assist which has valuable safety features and includes auto parking technology that will be slower than parking yourself and rule out tighter parking spaces (which, ironically, are the only ones for which you might ever want computer-assisted parking).

Thanks for that but can't drive manual, i have a slight issue with my legs which make it difficult for me to drive manual. So DSG is the only way!

I would be very surprised if you managed to get it for that. Even without driver assist you would be looking close to $53k.
Ordered mkVII GTI - carbon steel - DSG - bi xenon - leather - sunroof

What did you pay? I see you have the specs i want except for Driver Assist.
Yeah i think 50k is a stretch, after trade in or selling my mk6 gti i would be looking at no more than 55k.

Going to go today to the dealer i bought my mk6 off and start the ball rolling
Exciting, the more i look into the mk7 the more i am loving it.

I'm the opposite. Everytime I see a golf R mk6 on the road, I can't figure out how they could get the 7 R all wrong. The rims, the tailpipes, the front bumper. The 7 R just looks ordinary.

Went to the dealer today and just had a quick discussion regarding the GTI, Disappointing that they don't have the electric seats on the leather and still no push button start. But just a minor or non issue really.

But yeah was given a very high price on the fully optioned GTI i wanted but nothing was discussed. I will be test driving one on Saturday and will take it from there but as i bought my previous one from there the dealer did say a good deal can and will be done.

So yeah excited and i remember the feeling now of when i bought my current GTI.

I'm quite glad there is no push button start, its a trend with a lot of cars that i loathe. Something satisfying about putting the key in and turning it. Being a dude, i don't have any trouble finding my keys :p

    It's not a dude thing.

I personally have no issue with my keys but I like that my wife doesn't need to dig around for her keys in her handbag. I notice sometimes women aren't aware of their surroundings as they rummage for the keys. Having keyless entry and start makes a lot of sense from a security standpoint. I also like that my Tiguan (and at least the Highline Golf 103TSI I tested in Singapore) only unlock just the passenger side when you unlock the car. You have to press the unlock button twice to unlock all doors.

And although it is promoted as a security feature some of us just hate it. My wife and I have tried it on the last couple of cars we've owned where it was programmable and thankfully agree it's not for us. Our daughter has an older model Corolla with it and not programmable and to this day it is the least liked "feature" of her car.
