Can't answer re: R seats, but what is often done in these cases is to add steel spacers to the (usually forward) bolts.

Hi All, I have MY 15 Golf GTI, and the seats do not suit my body at all - I need to be able to give more adjustment to the seat pan angle - all the GTI has is the one lever which does the height and adjusts the seat pan slightly.
I've currently been making do sitting on a cushion, however this is not good enough long term for me, and I'm thinking about selling the car just for this reason.
I contacted VW HQ a few months ago, and they didn't really have any options for me, saying I can replace the seat myself and it won't void my warranty for things unrelated to the seat.
Do the optional leather seats you can get for the Golf GTI/R come with electronic adjustments (in particular seat pan angle)? If so, would it be possible to buy these and replace the existing standard seats in a Golf GTI?

If you need greater rearward angle of the seat base, can you not just put some washers under the front mounting bolts to raise the front angle of the seat a tad backwards?
Or vice-versa if you require a more forward tilt of the seat base (ie. washers on the rear mounting points)

Just thought I'd share what may very well be a temporary solution to the holes left in my front bumper after I removed my Euro plate holder.
Basically this is the before:
And this is the after:
From a distance:
I used the following:
I did actually undercoat, paint, sand, and seal a whole bunch of the caps in an attempt to colour match the caps better but as you can see in the photo below, the painted cap was worse (it's the top one just in case lol):
What I might try is to get some colour matched touch-up paint from Autobarn and paint a few caps to see if it's any closer. These were a temporary solution in lieu of the US Bumper Plugs, but I doubt I'll ever be wiling to spend $100 on those bumper plugs because mine are smaller and less noticeable than the 'proper' plugs, which is kind of the whole point. If I can perfect these then I'll be happy. Might even get a mate to machine some smaller copies of the US ones. Time will tell how the tape holds up.
Next step, making my own plate holders for the Kingpin covers to fit on!
Cheers,
- Matt
So I've had my gti almost 12 months now, has just under 13,000km on it... I've noticed in the last 2-3 months a loud ticking/knocking/tapping noise from the engine bay under acceleration, doesn't happen all the time though and it's hard to replicate but usually happens at about 2-3000 rpm under moderate acceleration (say pulling onto a freeway on ramp) the best thing I can liken it to is a the loud ticking noise cv's make when they've crapped themselves, has anyone else heard this in their car? And ideas? ive checked the cv's and they're all intact and fine, I'm at a bit of a loss
Cheers!
A friend has an Audi A3 with the 1.8 motor in it and is having an issue that sounds VERY similar. Could be a shared component. From memory it's to do with something coming loose in the turbo area after the car has a few km's on the clock. Apparently the issue is known and acknowledged by VAG but there is no fix. He's off work at the moment but if he comes back to work this week I'll try and get the details for you. Hopefully unrelated, but worth a look anyway!
Is it like this?

I have had this happen 2 or 3 times including this occasion I filmed it to show vw. It happens for no reason and stops for no reason. With no way of replicating it in the vehicle for them to locate it, the dealer couldn't really do anything.

Nah not like the noise in that video ^^ very loud, separatly distinguishable ticks/knocks... Really does sound like the noise cv joints make when they're flogged out... Hasn't done it for about a week now, hopefully whatever it was has rectified itself... or fallen off the car hahahaha
