Sucks but I guess they're making it better which is a good thing?

Atleast that means you'll get the revised paddles which will be better, so fingers crossed.

Tint recommendations for a white GTI?

Got the Polo done with Tint-a-Car's 'Midnight Express'. Weighing up whether to stick with that or go for something with a bit more transparency as the sun goes down - F1 for eg...If anyone has photos of their GTI with either of these tints it'd be appreciated

What's a good price for tinting a Golf these days? I think the Polo was done during a deal - $295.

I had a MK6 GTI manual and it was wheelspin city in the wet (especially after it was tuned).
Is the diff in the MK7 any better?
I've read that it brakes the inside front on exit but does it make it better on exit or just feel more intrusive?
The diff in the standard (non-PP) GTI is a normal open differential with XDS (that applies the brakes to the inside wheel to help transfer torque to the outer wheel with more grip) - just like the Mk6.

What certainly has changed is the dynamics of the chassis and geometry of the front suspension. The traction control/ESP systems are likely also slightly faster. As a result, power-down will be incrementally better.

Of course the greatest diff in the world won't help the car overcome the laws of physics - if you're pushing loads of torque through unloaded front wheels in the wet, you're going to get wheelspin - lots and lots of it (especially if you tune a Mk7). When you've got any significant lock on, the PP's diff will certainly be better, although I really only noticed a difference with the PP diff in higher-speed corners (say 40km/h or so) - below that, XDS/TC will be fairly intrusive in either car if you want to get lairy.

I've only driven the GTI and GTI PP on public roads so far, so nothing crazy (will be driving the PP at an upcoming drive day and am keen to see how the diff performs). I've also not driven a tuned Mk7 GTI.

    Thanks AdamD,
I may have to test drive one, with less weight the additional 7kw and 70nm I may not have to bother with a tune.
MK6 was ok in standard form, it was the tune that really set the front wheels alight.
    Cheers.

Anyone confirm if the Automatic Kerb View Function works? Seems like a handy feature to protect those rims from gutters.

yeah it works, only on the left mirror though, plus you have to keep your mirror switch on the left side for it to dip down when you reverse.

Just another tip, remember that the advice "items in the mirror are closer than they appear" also applies to kerbs! It took me a while to judge the ideal distance when using this feature

So after 5 months of ongoing coolant contamination problem, 4 coolant flushes and 2 coolant bottles replaced, Volkswagen have finally agreed to replace EVERY component of the cooling system. New engine, dash out to replace heater core, every hose.

Shame it has to be all pulled apart because you wouldn't know it had a problem the way it drives.

Can you explain the problem? I'm (probably) about to order a GTI and I'm keen to hear about any problems people have had so I can keep an eye/ear/nose out for them!
