550 for just one tyre?
Hi Guys,
I hope this is the right place to ask this, apologies if it isn't.
I'm in the market for a new car and I'm tossing up between The MK7 GTI, a low KM MK6 R or a V40 T5 R-design.
I was wondering if anyone would be willing t tell me roughly what they paid for there MK7 GTI?
My choice would be a MK7 GTI with leather seats and DSG. I think I might be considered for a corporate discount as both myself and my wife work for large international organisations.
I went into one dealership in Sydney, but they wouldn't give me the time of day and said they new nothing of corporate discounts.
Any help is very much appreciated.
cheers.
This thread, and the price thread, is loaded with commentary on pricing.
There are definitely decent discounts to be had on cars, and corporate discounting could apply. Whichever dealer you visited sounds like they're not interested in selling a car, so go elsewhere. And don't be afraid to consider interstate alternatives if you don't like what you're hearing.
The V40 isn't a bad car, and certainly looks good, but is a step below your other two alternatives in the performance and handling stakes. Ultimately which one you go for will depend on your needs and requirements. If you don't mind second hand, and need the AWD, the low mileage Mk6 Rs represent good buying if you shop around - there's a lot of ambitious pricing floating around on them however so do your homework.![]()

I was in exactly the same position. My preference was a mark6 R, had a look at a few, but were still asking silly prices. In the end I went for a Mark7 GTI PP- new car warranty and many more std features than found on the Mark6 R
I know when you get a flat you don't have time to shop around and I'm not being "the internet" saying you should have done this. This is more for info for others. You could look to get two of something else and sell the good PZero on here. Hell if someone gets a puncture and wants a 4000km Dunlop for a fair price let me know. I want to try and subsidise the trial of another tyre to reduce the axle tramp.
I would not do it personally and use some of the low end tyres in this link, but you could get 4 new ones for the $550. It surprised me how cheap they are. Buy New Tyres|Tyres
