If it's your only car I'm afraid you are right. If it's your second car, keep it! The R does fine lugging 3 kids to school and back - we only need 2 car seats. Even did a trip to Melbourne for a weekend when the youngest was a few weeks old. Capsule, pram, suitcases the lot. The older kids stayed at home.
The 2 yr old (girl) loves it. She goes "weeeeeee" when the right foot gets buried.
Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.
Wheels magazine May 2014 has a really nice write up comparing Golf 7 R to Golf 7 GTI PP entitled 'CLUB MATCH - Volkswagen now has two high-po Golfs, but only one of these is truly special."
The magazine has not hit the stores yet.
