So why do some GTI's have the red stripe through the lights and others don't, what's the difference?

The red line is standard on the GTI PP but the not on the normal GTI, that one you have to get an optional BI-xenon lights.

So seats are half alcantara, still no MDI/media port, LED number plate lights were stock, rims are ugly. That's about it!

Car looks great n0d3 thanks for the pics. The wheels look really smart on the car I'm just concerned about potholes and ride quality. Now I really can't wait to get my PP.

n0d3: I think it looks great! (I was about to chastise the negative post until I realized it was your car!). I like the badging and the rims (if you see the wheels in motion, the spacing lets the red calipers glow through).
More importantly though, how is the drive???

Haha! Ah okay, that makes sense regarding the calipers! I'll try to find a video online of it in motion.

I've driven a regular Mk 7 GTI back in Singapore for a few months, can't say I found any major difference in terms of ride/cushioning due to the larger wheels (partly also cause I haven't driven them side by side and the last time I drove that one with 18" wheels was back in early Feb). They seem alright at the moment although I've been mostly driving on the freeway.

I think it feels/looks good if you're not optioning leather seats! Rather than just fabric all the way.

Yeah, I'll have to see how it goes (refer to the thing I posted at the top of this message).

Just a pity that the Australian version doesn't let you opt for Discover Pro which I've used before on the other Golf. The satnav map becomes really squishy and when you put it in reverse the park pilot sensors and the reverse camera compete for screen real estate. Also the resolution doesn't seem that great (I swear the Discover Pro looked sharper). And the settings/tech stuff aren't the most intuitive and ruins a otherwise perfect car. AND WE DON'T GET MOTORISED SIDE MIRRORS?! (should have read the thread to avoid being disappointed but oh well).
