Just test drove the Gti and Audi S3... Totally different cars I know but totally lost as to chosing which to buy.
Gti felt like 'home'. Responsive, comfortable and would be a joy to own. S3 was amazing in every way except not as 'comfortable'.
Price wise I am surprised at how willing VW were to negotiate although I do have a history with them I suppose lol. Audi totally different story.
Just test drove a manual S3 today too, wow, what a blast. It's so willing to go! It's so hard to stay below the road speed limits, in a blink you can go from 80 to 110, so over taking is so easy.
It's very quiet in the cabin, the upgrade audio system with the performance pack sounds great too.
Following on from my previous whinge, the order is away and I have finally got a build week confirmed. It's due at the end of May so I will have it in mid June I think.
So hopefully that gives some clarity to others in the May-boat
The Merc screen is MUCH easier to read. The display is sharper, screen bigger, is at eye line and FAR easier and safer to operate through the mouse button thingy than the touchscreen. There is a good reason Audi don't do the touchscreen. I found it very dangerous using the touchscreen in the Mk 6 and the Merc's system can also be operated by voice control. Just my opinion but I find the Merc much better. I have the COMAND package with 17.8cm (7 inch) screen. I've also used the Golf Mk 7 screen and sat nav.
So no traffic jams where you live Brendan? That's awesome :)
I finally saw the GTI ad on TV when I recorded a show off 7-2.
It's the Vegas ad with Sinatra singing My Way - but with one difference. The wide shots are from the original ad. But the close ups are of a local car - with halogen white bulbs (which I suspect isn't standard with the car) instead of the original Vegas' bixenon DRL version and the tail lights are not the LED ones.
And of course for our nanny censors, there's no roof top drifting.
