That would be fine if the option list world wide was the same. So how can they have it available in Europe but not here? What advantage does VGA get by reducing the options list that vw Europe does not??

And why is that? Don't tell me it is to satisfy customers. I think it is all about maximising profits and making life easier for the factory and salespeople. Fewer options means less special orders which means that salespeople can spend more time selling available cars instead of wasting time on monitoring the progress of special orders and updating waiting customers.

Well they can save themselves even more time if we don't buy anything from them at all, since we can't get the car we want.

You are again being a boring, rude, VW employee. People should be allowed to express their views without someone who works for VW writing nasty sarcasm about their opinions. And yes I've jumped ship and will be picking up my Merc A250 Sport tomorrow and my GTI is off to a bloke who I know will look after it. I was very lucky to sell it privately as everyone is trying to sell a GTI at moment. The Mk 7 GTI has failed I'm afraid as a value for money proposition. It's a real shame and many people like me are happy to spend a tiny bit extra to get a far more interesting Mercedes than the new Mk 6.1 Golf.

The 8 month wait turned me off from buying the A250 sport, along with the ugly dash, less leg room in the back seats and small boot space.

    Enjoy your new car

Most manufacturers streamline the option process by grouping them into packs to reduce the number of vehicle configurations that can be ordered. And VW has done this to a certain extent, which assists ordering and stock control, reduces wait times, and can also increase resale over cars with many individual options (like mine).

Unfortunately, VWA have taken this one step further and eliminated those options that were less popular overall - either because they couldn't figure out how to bundle them into a marketable pack, or because they simply felt those options didn't appeal to the majority of customers and wouldn't constitute a deal breaker.

From a cold-hard-figures perspective it makes perfect sense. Of course you can expect those who have been disadvantaged to complain. I do think it's a shame that VWA hasn't introduced a program to allow a custom build configuration (within reason - options and colours, anything that doesn't require ADR approval) for a price.

Agree 100%. With the current competition one would think allowing more options would be smart.

In other words, forget about what customer wants, ignore them just like they ignored the DSG issues when they started. Thats VWA.
