I'll compare it to the 1 Series, A-Class, the new A3 that I just drove as well as the Focus, Mazda 3, Astra and i30...
    Welcome back Golf7

Strange that the DSG is less economic this time around given that it was the other way around in the Mk6. That said, a lot of us complained that the DSG upshifted way too early in favour of economy anyway so perhaps they've addressed that.

Might behave more like a HP tuned DSG now in "D".

I haven't seen any split acceleration times but it would be safe to assume it would still be quicker than the manual given past history (not that the GTI is about this.. but won't be losing sleep over 0.4l/100km either).

Yeah for sure, the Mk7 GTI is already at the same fuel usage as my Mk6 118TSI which is great.

Well spotted. Unfortunately it doesn't reference the performance pack or performance pack specs

    * IN VIN NUMBER IS MANUFACTURING PLANT AND MAY BE "P" OR "W" OR "U"

W is for Wolfsburg.. but P is for Brazil and U is for South Africa (and c is for cookie..). Are we still getting full supply from Germany, or are they leaving the option open for imports from the two other locations? I know where I'd want mine from.
