Just checked my VCDS log and was pleased to see that my MY2014 (Oct 13 build date) 1.4TSI Highline has the new 0CW 7-speed DSG. I wonder when the new gearbox was introduced?

The DQ200 gearbox fitted in the Mk7 Golf is essentially the same unit as fitted on all other vehicles within the Volkswagen Group, past and present.

As per the technical literature, DQ200 gearboxes fitted in models based on new MQB platform will have the designation 0CW. Same applies for the DQ250. They are not new designs.

Like any automotive component, it is possible that it may undergo and incorporate some minor revisions since its initial release date back in 2008, but that is not a given. For instance, the VIN of some (but not all) Mk7 Golfs were flagged as being applicable for the most recent recall.

VW Tech department told me that in 0cw, transmission connection to the engine and communication protocols of the transmission control unit are different from 0am, just as rawcpoppa mentioned citing a document

The VAGSG forum in Singapore has a Mk7 Golf owners thread. They only sell the 1.4 90TSI and the 1.4 103TSI in Singapore. I've read of at least 3 or more cases of the cars going into safe mode.

Yes, that is correct - hence the new designation (as per the technical literature).

However, it's still the same DQ200 gearbox that we all know and love.

The cars in question were put on trailers and towed back to the service centre. I didn't read all the discussions so I'm not sure what they meant but it seems it is the MU problem as well.

I think safe mode means not being able to exceed a certain speed?

Can't remember offhand but most likely it's an ssp for the golf 7 as it is VW's first MQB vehicle.

Hi all, interested to know whether anyone has experienced any DSG related issues in their Golf 7, following the recall/change to mineral oil?

    Cheers,
    FTO
