Sure I can do that .

Other than the seats I think the centre arm rest will be the only other leather change?

The dealer presented it to me as the same leather upholstery - they just do a swap here in country and so the seats are not fitted with the heating. There is a reasonable saving as well.

I'm quite happy with the price (and didn't see anything in the GTI thread ) as the availability limited my negotiating power if I didn't want the delay. I think Nov is even now being touted as delivery for new orders.

I think your figures are on the money too. $42k car, $1.3k stamp duty (QLD), $1.7k rego (QLD), $2k leather, ~$2k Dealer delivery/fat, Tinting ~$350.

My pricing was corporate which shows just how high they are pushing for retail pricing. Initial offer on my Mazda was $7k which is below red-book. On condition and history it would be in the upper percentile of equivalent cars for sale. If availability was better I would have walked and pushed harder.

I wonder if VW is artificially controlling volume here? Wouldn't be the first car company to do so (I think Merc did quite recently).

interesting point about artificial control - supply and demand really upsets the apple cart at the negotiating table - dealer gets upper hand with situations like "last one in state", "next ones arrive in August" blah blah - not sure I would believe it's engineered this way though, just a matter of what can get shipped where...

price post – i am new to this thread
bought a Comfortline DSG today $29440 driveaway Limestone metallic with Satnav – nailed dealer for floor mats $220 back bumper load protector $238 and chrome boot strip $135 included in price
Satnav was a key thing for me so I was glad this dealer had this one preoptioned
didn't want to push too hard on price as there is b**ger all stock about in Bris and (they say) prices up post June 30 with next shipments
need to wait a week for dealer to get it from wharf holding lot
    Das auto

Congrats on the purchase, a sub $30k price on that vehicle is a pretty sharp deal.. didn't realise the crappy Discover unit with satnav was an option on the Comfortline - it isn't flash.

Not sure about any price rise post 30 June - VW only just adjusted their Golf pricing a couple of months ago. Obviously some end of financial year incentives will be removed however so still likely to get a better deal now than in early July.

My recent posts mentioned I was looking at a R Line package on a Highline DSG and a discussion around DAP or Xenons. I am now looking at moving away from the R Line and indeed become a first time GTI owner instead. Colour wise I am a fan of the Carbon Steel, but Pure White or the Red could get a look in, just not 100% sure. I have a black SUV now so time for a change. Will definitely go for the DAP over Xenons (which is not an option now anyway as I understand it if a MY15 needs to be sourced). Not sure about the tartan, but would struggle to justify the leather / heated seat upgrade $. Hopefully not too long a wait once a deal is done. Will keep you posted

Correct - no red line I mean xenons on the base GTI in MY15.

The GTI is a great buy and you'll love it. Having said that if you do any reasonable amount of night country driving then just satisfy yourself that the halogen are, ahem, adequate.

CSG looks great, I was keen to run it after a red Mk6. The tartans are a love it or hate it thing, I love the look and would rather put that $3k towards something else on the car.

Today I took my dogs for a walk. They jumped into what could only be described as a cesspit! Even though they were in the back of the wagon the car quickly started to smell. For the rest of the drive home I had the roof and the windows open. It was only the heated seats that allowed this
