I was told by the dealer that, for the forseable future there won't be a GTD for AU
Ordered: Mk7 TDI, R-Line, DSG, White, Driver assist, Sunroof, Xenons

In the UK we have the Golf GT as the high model (not GTi) . . .it's about £22k . . .I'm currently thinking of buying one haha. They're just so pretty!!!! I had a question though. . is the ride height the same as the standard golf?

Like with the 18inch alloys it would probably look like a monster truck knowing VW's obsession with gargantuan arch gaps but there's no 'option' for sports suspension. . does it come as standard does anyone know?

From what I can gather its got the same suspension as the standard Golfs as the height looks the same. However some cheaper Golfs in your market may have different set-ups (multi-link v torsion beam) which could impact this.

You could always look at lowering springs to rectify that - I'm sure finding a set of GTI springs would still maintain reasonable ride quality and drop it to a more suitable height if you went 18 inch wheels, or go lower with any number of the main brands - VWR, Eibach, H&R, SPM etc.

Cheers for the reply! I'm not going to be messing with after market suspension as my Polo hasn't felt right since I got it lowered Had just hoped the GT model would be a bit lower. Ah well!

Thinking of buying another vw after about 4 years absence .I am considering 2014 build 90 tsi comfortline dsg .which says on vw site $28490 drive away .so with matalic paint + $500 and driver assistance pack + $1300 .totalling $30290 .what sort of wait should i expect and is around 6% realistic to negotiate off price ? .I dont want to pay more than $28500 i can wait and dont need finance .Has anyone paid around that price or am i dreaming .

Looking forward to hearing how it went!!

I have about £10,000 available for a deposit ; price I want with extras is £25,000.

With dealers if you're buying new is the price on the VW website pretty much solid? If you're paying via a credit package with VW do you basically have ZERO negotiating power?

Assuming things work the same way over your way as they do here, then no, the price on the website is merely a list price and you should be negotiating down from there.

As for finance it will depend - if its standard finance then it shouldn't impact your negotiated price. If it's a specific under-market interest rate sold by VW Finance then often the restriction will be that the car must be sold at list price.. then it's a case of calculating whether you're better off with the low finance or not.

I don't see adding driver assist will result in you being screwed over. I'd be starting your negotiations below $28.5k, but that target should be very achievable (assuming the original $30,290 was only standard price and not a promotion, as a 90TSI I'm guessing standard).

I got 12.3% off my base 90 TSI manual last June and that didn't take much bargaining. The dealer had exactly the car I wanted sitting there on top of a shipping container on display and I had the money saved, no trade and they accepted my second offer. Was almost too easy. They then did an even better deal on new Comfortline wheels and tyres.
