We agree on some things. It is indeed tiresome when Mazda fanbois rant excessively in praise of Mazda on a VW Golf forum.
Note the word "Excessively". His was not just a passing comparison of one or other attributes to make some point. It was a full blooded cheer for Mazda. What's wrong with criticising that FFS.
Can anyone suggest how much I should be looking at paying for a VW Golf 103TSI Highline in a 2014 build? I am not in a hurry to buy, and I am happy to wait for the new builds to start coming through, but I am not sure how much more I should be paying given they won't be included in the current $31 990 promotion.
I really want the Driver Assist Package (extra $1300) also.
Also, what is the cheapest a Highline 2013 build date has sold for? Anyone got a crazy bargain recently?
Crazy bargains are available on cars which are hard to shift. It's unlikely that they would be offered on a model that's defeated all challengers in World wide car awards.
I paid list, and was happy to do so, it's a great car.
Agreed, they are great cars, but it's still a competitive market out there and in NZ at least, dealers are still keen to sell more cars than their opposition. I had no difficulty in negotiating ~10% off a new Highline just before Christmas.
Full blooded cheer? I fail to see how that was excessive. You said there was nothing to suggest the Mazda 3 was in any way better than the Golf. I pointed out some points to you. Oh wait, I pointed out ONE point (the infotainment unit).
If you want a full blooded cheer I can PM you a complete unabridged list.
One point was it? One advert really. Here are your remarks again for those who may have missed them.
The Maxx doesn't only have a touch screen radio, it has satnav and reversing camera as standard. It also has 114kw with 200Nm with <6L/100km. IMHO the sweet spot is the SP25 at $27.9k+ORC (2.5L engine with 138kw/250Nm, 6L/100km and more goodies). I don't think the Skoda has a chance. Its range doesn't even have reversing cameras. I also don't think the looks of the Octavia and the fact it comes in sedan and wagon forms will entice the 3's target market.
You may also want to check out the MZD system on the 3. Miles ahead on what VW's got.
I'm looking at the SP25. Will sell at the end of this year, hoping for good end of year sales.
The MZD system is also miles ahead from what VW's got. Mazda is even opening the API to third party developers to create apps for the car. You can also export technical car info to a USB stick to give to your dealership. No need to take it in for a dealer to plug in VAGCOM or whatever just to check for errors.
See what this reviewer has to say about its ease of use. Totally blows even what Audi's got: 2014 Mazda Mazda3 Review and Road Test - YouTube
Can anyone comment on the thickness of the steering wheel vs. the mark 6? I had one as a loaner while my mark 6 was getting serviced and it bugged me a little. Is the GTI wheel a bit thicker?
Holding out for the wagon... here's hoping that they don't screw us on available options (but it's already concerning that I'll have to get a third party Discover Pro unit and possibly the MDI as well... sigh!).
Hi Guys
Just letting you know for those who are interested - I recently purchased a 2013 Golf Mk7 103TSI Highline with Vienna Leather and Sunroof, plus full tank fuel, slim line plates, boot protection strip and tailgate strip for $34,990. Got it as part of the current promotion.
Cheers
