Poida: All good suggestions from OPs, but I suspect that the best solution depends on where you physically install the new dash-cam.
If you intend to place it high near the roof lining in the rear-view mirror area , then you could tap into the switched +12 V wire for the mirror. Given the current draw from the dash cam is really small -perhaps consider installing a new in-line fuse. Or you could just take a chance and rely on the factory fuse to protect the dash-cam given that the VW fuse is rated @ 7.5 Amps.
You probably already know, but car fuses aren't really good @ protecting down stream components from overload, they are better @ short-circuit protection. Nevertheless, the size of the fuse that's used does determine how much energy the fuse will allow into a fault and therefore how much potential damage will result in this instance. Too large a fuse size and you might as well just use a nail as a fuse - too small a fuse size and you will be constantly replacing the fuse (it's a compromise)! If you do install a new in-line fuse, remember the rule-of-thumb for grading series connected fuses: The down-stream fuse should have a rating of no more than 50% of the up-stream fuse.
Here's the wiring diagram showing the connections to the anti-dazzle mirror : note the +12V wire

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
