This same thing happened to me also with a 2013 103TSI highline 2 days ago. We had just had the clutch replaced also at VW 2 weeks prior due to clutch judder issues.
The wife was driving home, stopped at an intersection and when pulling away the car wouldn’t change out of first. She pulled over and managed to limp the cad very slowly the 300m home.
When the car was parked up and restarted, it won’t select a gear, doesn’t even show up as a gear being selected. If I’m D or R, the rebels rise slightly when you put your foot down but the car doesn’t move.
Anyway, it was towed to VW yesterday, scanned and inspected and apparently lots of metal shards at the front of the gearbox, needs a rebuild apparently. The new clutch when installed felt quite abrupt when changing gears, but thought it could just need bedding in. Not sure if this was a sign of a bigger issue?
VW have said it has nothing to do with the mechatronics unit, but I am not convinced and fear that further time will be spent in the garage after the gearbox rebuild. Any thoughts or experience of this before?
All under warranty for me but don’t really want a car that will continually be in the workshop.
