MK7.5 GTI Remus Exhaust + Racingline stage 1

    Hi,

I am considering the following exhaust upgrade for a MK7.5 GTI DSG.

Remus Cat-back-system dual L/R with resonated front section (this system is dual tips system one on each side of rear bumper), incl. EC homologation with street race black tail pipe

REMUS exhaust Australia - Sports car exhaust for major European brands

The exact exhaust can be seen here: YouTube

I am after something that is simple and not too loud, hence why resonated.

    Questions:

    1. Does anyone currently have this on their car? If yes, how do you find it and would you get it again if you had another chance?

    2. Anyone have Remus Exhaust on their car. Feedback appreciated

    3. Should I get this upgrade before or after the Stage 1 ECU upgrade. Waiting for Racingline to release their OEM+ for the MK 7.5GTI.

    4. Anyone done the stage 1 upgrade to their MK7.5 GTI yet?

    Thank You

I dont have a gti i have a mk7.5 r i have done the ipe exhaust system with valve control unit. Its quite when you want it to be and loud by a push of a button. You can do the stage 1 tune whenever you feel the need too. You dont need the exhaust to do this. From my understanding i was going to flash my car but now have stayed clear of this as volkswagen australia have now a program to check that you ecu has been flash or even flashed back. I would strongly recommend that you speak to the tuning company before applying any tunes to your car. Because if something goes wrong its on you engine or drivetrain wise.

Thanks, wasn’t aware that VW Australia has a software that can do this. All the tuning companies that i have spoken to so far (fast stuff, volkspower) haven’t mentioned anything. Will need to ask again.

Hi, I'm not sure if you're still keeping up with this thread, but I do in fact have that exact exhaust installed on my Mk7.5 GTI.

I find it to be a good exhaust.

    Pros:

+ Excellent build quality and fitment. The shop that fitted it said it was one of the best exhausts they'd ever seen.
+ Adds a bass and slight 'meatiness' to the car's tone at idle and low RPMs, but not overly so. People can now tell that the car has something extra, but it won't cause them to think "Wow, look at the douche with the loud exhaust."
+ At high RPMs the exhaust sounds great, but it won't cost you a defect from the cops.
+ The sportier tone means you can now actually hear what the engine is doing at all RPMs (no fake SoundAktor required). This is perfect for feeling the car and keeping it in the power band. The same could be said for any exhaust really, but it's still true for this one.
+ The DSG farts sound incredible.
+ No interior drone at highway speeds or around town, but there is some if are idling/coasting at speed (disappears if you apply even a tiny amount of throttle).

    Cons:

    - Expensive. The exhaust is what it is, but don't get the carbon fiber tips unless you REALLY want them, they're a rip off. (I got them and don't regret it, but would never do it again.)
    - A noticeable increase in noise / harshness / vibration. Not excessive, and I'm used to it now, but it's there and you have to accept it.
    - The bass note resonates at certain low RPMs, so any loose trim in the interior will vibrate and buzz which can be annoying.
    - Drive mode kind of sucks with this exhaust, because it always shifts too early and keeps the car in low RPMs, which in turn exacerbates the bass note issue. I still drive the car in D mode often, but if the early D shifts and engine lugging annoy you with the stock exhaust, it's amplified with the REMUS exhaust.

    - - -

All in all, YES, I would buy it again, but NOT with the carbon fiber tips.

Anyway, I wish someone had written something like this when I was thinking about buying it, so I hope this helps you out.
