Golf GTI Mk 7.5 BSR Stage 1 ecu tune with 'pops and bangs'

I believe the major difference between 2017 and later years outside of Aus is the addition of the GPF starting in 2018. Don’t think GTI in Aus has gpf yet.

I have been doing a lot of reading on stage 1 ecu tunes for my car and three days ago I settled on the BSR stage 1 tune for the DLBA engine. Should hit 301 hp and 440nm. But because mine doesn’t have a GPF, I would expect back pressure to be lower, so it might make moa powah. Sure feels like it.

With the tune, when I’m driving normally, the car feels like stock. Including stock gas mileage. But at WOT, or any other decent acceleration, it feels like a different car!!!

So, three days in and I love it. Over time, I will record other impressions and experiences here!!!

    Happy driving!
Its 2024 and this BSR Stage 1 tune has been fantastic. Recently I noticed they updated their tunes to come with a 'Pops and Bangs' add-on. I have a stock Cat and Res but have upgraded my muffler to the VAG Clubsport S OEM muffler. The sound from the Clubsport S muffler has always been perfect for me. Not 'loud', just good sounding. Anyway, I couldn't find much about the Pops and Bangs add-on and was a bit worried it would be VERY loud... BUT... its perfect!!

It should be called the 'burbles and crackles' tune, because with my exhaust system all I get are gentle burbles on down-throttle and deceleration. Almost nothing below 3,000 rpm but nice 'overrun' above 3,000rpm decel. I am 100% perfectly happy with this add-on to my Stage 1 tune!!!

BTW, if you have NO Cat or NO Res or a LOUD exhaust system I'm sure you will hear 'Pops and Bangs'... but for me its softer 'burbles' with some occasional 'crackles'...
