Hey Andre1269, great write up, thanks!!

    I’ve also got a silver-white 2017 gti Perf Ed 1!! I love it!

Until recently, my biggest mod was the Clubsport S muffler. But yesterday, I did a BSR stage 1 ecu tune. Wow!! It flys!! I can feel the low end torque increase and it pulls so much better at the high end too.

So far, I’ve done 91,000 problem free kms. But with only the most recent 300kms tuned!

    Hey Flash,

Welcome to the club mate, I'm glad you like it!

BSR tunes have a lot of torque I've heard.

Is there a big difference with the Clubsport Muffler? What other mods are you looking at getting?

I've also installed a COBB SF Cold air intake system and turbo elbow; the intake makes a subtle difference and is loud!
Car is also tentatively mapped stage 2 APR, ill be getting a milltek downpipe and updated coils on it soon and let you know how she fairs!

I’m interested in a tune (same spec engine) but maybe more for the DQ381 DSG as I’m not thrilled by the shift points, D is a bit too eco-focused and S holds some of the gears (e.g. 3rd when cruising at 60) too long.

Out of interest have you done any research in brands offering combo ECU/TCU tunes?

    Hi mate,

I got the APR Stage 1 DSG tune.
Shift points for 1st to 2nd are the same, still around 1500-200RPM.
    3rd, 4th and 5th shift closer to 2800 - 3200RPM.
In "D" mode, it holds 4th gear at 60km/h unless you shift up yourself.

The DSG shifts normal when in "eco" mod.

Sports mode has much more useable and intuitive shift points, it doesn't rev its guts out pointlessly.

Shifting in manual mode can sometimes be quite abrupt, but only rarely. The new 7spd DSG's do not retard the ignition timing when upshifting - this is why there are no more DSG farts when upshifting
As stock, the 7spd DSG compensates for the upshifts by slipping the clutch for a smooth transition, but the DSG tune effectively removes the clutch slippage between gears and results in a 'jolt' - at wide open throttle between 3-5000rpm it is most prominent, but only sometimes. Anything under or over this rev range is usually pretty smooth!
The gearbox also now engages the gears much earlier instead of slipping them (i.e. 1st and 2nd gear slow corners, speed bumps, taking off etc.)

The tune is quite expensive, but overall I do not regret the purchase and prefer the gearbox now over stock.

I just got my Michelin Pilot Sport 4 Ss today. With my brake upgrade last week (dba HD 4000s on all four corners, cross drilled and ebc redstuff) plus my BSR stage 1 tune 3 days ago, there are no more mods planned in my immediate future.

I’m very happy with this car right now!!!! Time to enjoy some driving!!

    Hey Andre,

Thanks for your posting and review of your MK7.5 and APR stage 1.

I also drive a MK7.5 with the DQ381 7-speed and have been desperately searching for solutions to add DSG farts back.

Am I correct in my understanding, based on your postings, that when you originally installed the APR stage 1 high torque tune, you started getting DSG farts? And when you got the TCU tune to match, the DSG farts went away?
