What car is that, it can't be any I know of because none of them come with a no breakdown guarantee.

Hmm how about one that does not already have a pre-existing issue. That would be a good start.

Lol you know what I mean. Well let me rephrase. At least get one that does not have well publicised pre-existing issues. Anyway if you really feel what you do, you should go ahead and get the mk7.5 on the very basis that you can just send it back for warranty repairs. In fact you can buy any car you want without doing prior research since the new car warranty covers your vehicle no?

The high rate of failures with the IS38 was resolved with the last revision, 722H, that was out in mid 2014. Failures of 722H turbos have been extremely uncommon - no higher than the average vehicle turbo failure based on anecdotal evidence on VW and Audi forums in Australia and overseas.

That's good to know. So basically MY2015 Rs onwards should be all good? Do you know if the same applies to the 8V S3? I would assume so given they share the same turbo?

The Golf R actually got the final revision turbo shortly after the S3. There were periods for both the R and the S3 when cars were being built with 722A and 722H turbos concurrently, probably because engines are stockpiled. Going from memory here, the earliest S3 with 722H I've heard of was built in early 2014, and the R started getting them a couple of months later. I'm pretty sure, but not absolutely sure, that by MY15 they were both using 722H exclusively. The revision is stamped on the turbo build plate anyway and can be inspected with a bit of creative camerawork.

Anyone keen on a $82K Golf R Wagon? Configured up the new Golf on the German website. Ticked all the permissible options minus extended warranty (most of the 58 ) under the sun

Also, looks like the Wagon misses out on LED tail lights again from their gallery
