Hi frostywinter, I had exactly the same issue with my 7.5 GTI. I had to book an appointment at the service centre and got it fixed yesterday. Apparently some coding was done incorrectly at the factory. They recoded and has been working fine so far.

When you engage reverse gear, do you get an option to choose parking mode on the MFD? User manual says you can but looks like that's not available in AU spec cars.

Hi Facelift, when I go into Rev gear (DSG) no I dont get any options, just the posted screen shot error pops up for a few seconds.

This problem has only happened since I disconnected the car battery while I installed a sub woofer - was working fine before doing that.
Must have something to do with that I am guessing as there were numerous error messages after starting the car the first time after reconnecting the battery - they all went away after a short drive and restarting the car for a 2nd time, but this error still is there..

Looks like a trip to the dealer?

Hmm, that's interesting. Now that you mention, my battery was also disconnected while tinting (to prevent airbags from popping when the small glass in the front was tinted). I also got a whole bunch of error messages. However, I hadn't driven the car much before tinting was done and hence I assumed it was a factory coding problem. Looks like disconnecting the battery messes up coding.

Welcome to the Mk7 & the stupid battery cover thing. It slides off over the top btw (had my battery out yesterday).

Anyone with the 7.5 R able to shed some light on CarAdvice's review stating the the car 'bottoms out' easily?

I drove my hearse over some typical NSW country roads today, no bottoming out noticed (but I didn't have any load on board). From reading a few reviews from that drive day I got the impression there were some particularly savage potholes on the route they drove the cars. I will say that mine doesn't seem to have much downward wheel travel (noticed when cleaning and putting sealant on my pretorias).

    Hey Guys,

I'm new here. I'm looking to purchase a mk 7.5 Golf GTI, if anyone could shed some light on my decision, what is a realistic price point I should expect to fork out? (Including Driver assistance package and Infotainment package). Also, is the infotainment package worth $2300? The dealer I went to the other day quoted me $53,000 with the above packages, this amount seems a bit absurd tbh, I was expecting around the $45000 mark. They also had a few Mk7 in stock, should I consider the mk7 as there isn't much difference between the mk7 and mk 7.5. All feedback welcomed!

Use the configure option on the vw website to get a rough idea of cost then you can haggle play a few off against each other if you can
As for 7 vs 7.5 the difference inside is quite large if you option it up the infotainment pack is well worth the money imo
The drivers screen and 9.2inch media screen are worth it just on a resale value alone and make the car feel premium
Not to mention the rocking dynaudio system which if you did a aftermarket install as the non wolfy r guys want to do would set you back 3k or so on its own!
So tick that box you won't be disappointed

Also if your flexible about colour and they have one on the lot you can drive a better deal but if you (like me) have to have a certain colour +options then room to haggle goes down lol

    Good luck and enjoy

I haven't had any "bottoms out" on my Mk 7.5 R - had it for over a month now and none at all.

The only bottoming out I have experienced is as a result of the relatively long overhang at the front being so low. This creates some unavoidable bottoming out entering and exiting some driveway crossovers (which frustrates me at times, as I am super careful, and mindful of the limitations), but I have never had the suspension limit reached in any sort of driving regardless of the roads traversed. Even on spirited runs, no issues.
