Mine is sitting on the showroom floor with a sold sign. I think it should be able to be picked up on August 14 but the dealer told my insurer (who needed to check details as it is too new to be in their data base) that the 16th will be the earliest. Killing me is correct.

At least you know it's here. I have no idea when it will arrive other than I have to wait til the 8th of August to know more... astounds me.

Solitaire? Mine will be arriving on the 14th of August but they've quoted another 2-3 weeks on top of that for my accessories to be installed (this happened in May when I bought my 7, so it wasn't unexpected).

Nah, sorry, thought they had one in the showroom but they didn't. He said there was a delay in the gti and wouldn't come in till toward the end of the month. Also forgot to ask about the lights (I was too busy thinking about the R ).
Looking at online vids though. Overseas the gti cone standard with the same rear lights as the R. So sure what VWA will do.

Might be on the same ship as mine then. Was told by my dealer that they won't get the gti demo until after launch around mid to end of August which is also the eta of my car 🤔

Apparently the factory is shut for 2 weeks as it's summer over there, opens next week and that's why we won't know build/delivery times till then....

For those of you wondering about pricing.

I laid down a deposit two days ago with a dealership in maitland NSW.

Any colour (haven't chosen exact colour yet, most likely blue) with DSG, Drivers assist, and sunroof, mk7.5 Golf R for 59200 drive away
includes weather sheilds and boot liner

So if you are not at least getting 60, id be shopping around.

I do need to travel 3 hours to pick my car up when it comes in, but im saving 4grand on what another dealer who is 20 minutes from me quoted the day before.

I also mentioned to the dealer closest to me the price i was quoted and she was stunned, and said that she has no idea how they can do it at that price, unless they lose money. Not sure how true that is.

Dont have a delivery date yet, but most likely end of the year, or jan,feb,march next year.

Wookie, that is a ripper of a price. I went thru a new car broker who had a group buy of 7 VWs together, at the end of the financial year, and you still beat me. And I'm not even getting the sunroof.
