Coming from a mk6 GTI and Mk7 R to the FL S3 after 3/12 of ownership I'm very happy with the new DQ380, definitely a step up; nil hesitation in 1-2, seamless ultra quick shifts, really good DSG farts on hard upshifts and cruises really well at about 2,000rpm at 115km on the freeway with fuel use sitting in the high 6's/low 7's.

Andrew, I noticed the same thing in test driving the FL S3 and also how much improved both normal and sports/dynamic mode were. Loved that dynamic usable like once I had my MK7R dsg tune done. It really is a massive step up. I was more than happy to sign up to getting MY17S3 to replace our MY15.

I think that the 7.5R with the extensive list of improvements/standard features takes it well out in front as best in class. Then all you need is stage 1 tune to have it all and say bye bye to Focus Rs etc.

^ congrats! And agreed, forgot to mention that popping the gearbox into Sport now results in a DSG change higher up in the rev range without the silly RPM change of the Mk7R and GTI sport mode. You can pretty much guarantee a DSG pop/fart too in sport/dynamic which is always a bonus Also love the crackles on overrun/high rev downshifts.

Just visited relatives in New Zealand and noticed they already have the 7.5 on display over there!

Just had to pull into the showroom for a look.

Seems like the NZ spec are very different to the Aussie specs.

One thing I did notice is the front LED DRLs are not like those LL shaped ones pictured in most promotional material.

I didn't manage to get a photo - but on lower spec models, the DRLs are still LED but just a straight line under the headlight and you can see each individual LED.

Salesman said that the LL ones are reserved for top spec models!!!

I hope this is not the same for Australia

However I did think that the rear tail lights were an improvement

And the 8 inch touchscreen is a massive improvement in sharpness and image quality - didn't see the 9.2 inch though

When I work out how to post pics I will try to upload for you guys...

Poor NZ... still get the 92Kw engine in the low spec versions. starting at NZD 34K!
NZD3000 for LED headlights, NZD2300 for DCC, Dynaudio = NZD1500
    Active display + 9.2 inch Discover Pro = NZD3500

And I thought we got ripped for prices.

BBS Wheels for the MK7.5 Golf?

    Morning everyone!

I am sure that you guys have already talked about wheels and tires on this forum... But I would like to have your opinion on this one.
I would like to change my standard 17" Dijon wheels and get a set of Himalaya Grey 18" BBS SR wheels (18x8 ET45) with 225/40/18 wheels.
My car has what Volkswagen calls the "sports" suspension which comes standard when you get 17" wheels. So basically the car is 15mm lower than a regular Golf and a little bit stiffer. I am not planing on lowering my car because the roads over here are horrid. Any thoughts? Ideas? Photos?

    Cheers,

NZ gets better options than here

they get standard Alcantara seats, STANDARD DAP, option of black Pretoria wheels and R Performance Pack (which is DSG only for some reason)

On what? They don't get standard DAP. The base comfortline does without ACC, rear traffic alert and side alert. Its basically AEB - which we will get on MK7.5 Models They don't even get standard leather on the highline.
Our comfortline gets 17 inch wheels, they get 16. Our comfortline gets sat nav theirs doesn't
Our highline has leather, LED lights and sunroof - theirs doesnt

Active display + dynaudio + 9.2 inch media - AUD2300 in NZ it will set you back NZD5000
