    Mechatronic Gasket Leak

Hi guys, so took my mk7 tsi to get serviced at a new place and they said that my mechatronic pan gasket is leaking. They gave me a quote to replace the pan gasket for $700. Wondering if this is necessary to fix or a big issue? If it is 3 hours labour a fair amount to be paying.

    Thanks

I guess it depends if it's leaking or just seeping, low fluid on a DSG can cause false neutrals; and that can be unsafe.

The sump pan, gasket and fluid should be all done at the same time.

being a TSI, i guess you have the 7 speed yer?

if so there is a kit to do this job, VAICO V10-3545-XXL includes all three parts and can be found for about $ 100 USD online.

3 hours is normally the time quoted for a mechatronics replacement, so that time is a bit high.

Yeah it's the 7 speed dry clutch dq200. Is there any way to check the fluid levels on the dsg or are there normally any warnings when it gets low? Not too sure if it's leaking a bit or just seeping.
I think the mechanic took a picture so I can just tell by looking at how much fluid there is to see if it's leaking or seeping?

So the fix includes new gearbox oil as well. Just weary as first time at this mechanic and they're not cheap so not sure if they're exaggerating the issue to get me to fix it.

Gear oil on the 7 speed is just that, 75w90

Mechatronics holds almost a full litre of hydraulic oil, if you buy VW stuff, its the same as you put in the roof system on a mk1 Golf cabriolet. It would need to be significantly down to. Like 25% I reckon before you would notice anything. A few teaspoons wouldnt make a difference, although it would spread out over a large area.

Unfortunately there is no simple way to check the mecha oil level. How many KMs your TSi has it? If around 40-50k km it's advised to change the oil, even VW saying that is a lifetime one. It will improve the longevity of the mecha and help to prevent failures.

I would check another prices around just in case. I used to do mine every 40K km.
