I've got a 2013 Golf highline model and have been reading through this thread over and over trying to figure out the right combo to download map updates I have tried to both update the existing maps on SD card with discovercare and have tried a blank 32GB SD card with latest file P79_N60S5MIBH3_ROW.7z (unzipped etc) and performing a software update.
None of them are recognised by the system. I suspect the system has NEVER been updated given we're talking about VW Australia here.
SD Card upgrade with utility just doesn't recognise the updated card. I copy back original contents and it works.
Software upgrade with file produces error as per below.
My system;
Device part number: 5G0035846A
Hardware: 039
Software: 0421
Navigation database: 5G0919866A 0022 ROW
2013
By using MENU button press to get into system settings, trying to select upgrade comes up with error:
Unable to read the Release Information file. Error when reading/opening the file.
\SDACard0\metainfo2.txt
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Try this link http://vw-mapscdn.tdd.adacorcdn.com/...S3MIBS2_ROW.7z
You will need to copy the unzipped contents to your original SD card and place into slot 2.
Flipper Dog
Now - T-Roc R, Audi Q5
Past VWs- T-Roc R-Line, Golf 6, 7 and 7.5, Touareg 7L and 7P, Passat B5.5, Polo MK3, Polo MK4 and GTI
How do you determine the model between Discover Media and Pro? I just went visually on the unit and it looks like the black model which is a pro on the website. I assume the naming standards for the file versions I had is telling you this?

I have used the discovercare tool which downloaded and built from this image and this didn't work. I am now trying to use the downloaded .7z file which you and farq have mentioned. I assume they're one in the same ? (one from vw site vs the link you gave me). I'm downloading both also to try.

I downloaded the skoda maps for 2019/2020 ROW 79 which are the latest and applied it to my Discover Pro works no issues. I see now that VW have released a new version which is probably the same.
