The "2015" version of ROW (rest of world) maps is available for download from Navteq. It is a 4.5gb download that takes between 12 to 24 hours on a typical home connection. The actual installation process (decompressing, backing up existing map data, copying new data, installation) takes 2-4 hours on a typical PC.
Please read the following before choosing to do this upgrade:
0. The update only works if you have a V2 card (see below). V1 owners are out of luck. Sorry.
1. This upgrade is at your own risk (duh!). Remember to back-up your data before beginning.
2. The VW SD card must be re-used. The card itself is the copy protection. You can not use another SD card.
3. Don't ask your $stealership about this update. They will either not know anything about it, be unwilling to help you, or ask for $1000+ to buy the new maps.
4. There are 3 versions of VW maps: USA, Europe and ROW (rest of world). Don't expect to see anything on the VW Australia website.

To see what version you have press MENU, SETTINGS, System information:
On the root directory of your map SD card is a file called DbInfo.
IF you see the following you have a V1 card. STOP. The update will not work. Sorry.
V1 cards have the following DbInfo file. You can see the 022 in the system information screen.
