Also let us know how you go with POIs.
That's the previous one thanks, mine came with version 821 on the original VW SD card.
I think either there is a VCDS setting, which does not let me to update POIs or my unit's firmware has to be updated in the service.

Update: sorry, originally I put an incorrect map version in my posy, now edited.

    Same error message.

Every time I plug in the USB or SD card the unit says "software update available", but when I update the MyPOIs, I get the same error message.
Feels like either the update is somehow not enabled in my unit or because there is no internal memory (HDD or SSD) in my Discover Media it cannot update. My unit has the map SD card and reads it from there.
The Discover Media model doesnt come with any memory (hdd or ssd) so all updates are performed via USB or SD slot. I think it is just a matter of finding the right data structure for your units model/version. Maybe try posting your model hardware/software version details and maybe someone with the same combination could assist. If you have the 0821 version map installed then stay with it for now.

    Hello,

First time poster here. I wish I had read this thread before attempting to update my V1 card through DiscoverCare and I wish Volkswagen made an effort to inform customers this wouldn't work. I'm now left with the original card not being recognised as valid. I did back-up before updating through DiscoverCare, so have the market (maps) folder content saved. However, I don't have the DBInfo .txt file nor the .MD5 file. Any chance a V1 owner out there could share a copy of this with me, so that I could attempt to restore this card before trying to get the local dealer involved? For a 2014 TSI Highline Golf with a Discover Media unit for what it's worth.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Hi Colton, I had the same issue, DiscoverCare update stopped with an error message during the sw update of my original VW maps SD card. What I did is I have downloaded the latest map pack from VW website for my car and for my infotainment unit, unzipped and copied onto the original VW SD card. It worked for me.

Thanks, but I've gone down that route to no avail. From reading back through this thread it appears the V1 cards can't be updated unless MapCare is enabled by the dealer? Really just hoping to revert the card back to it's existing state.

Updates are good for 3 years.
Then you need to buy a new sdcard that has a new license in a hidden encrypted partition.
You can get one from VW spares.
OR you can buy an EU maps sdcard for a lot less, then delete the contents and copy over the row2 maps.
Boom. 3 years of additonal map updates.
The important part is it's a new sdcard that has a new license for updates

I sat in a car with a laptop for an hour. Tried every combination and didn't work. I gave up now, no POIs for me.

    SUCCESS!!!
Uploading Speed Camera / POIs - Tail of Woe - VW Pulled the Update Site Again | SEATCupra.net Forums
I followed the link, downloaded the POInspector software, read the manual, imported the speed camera POIs, copied the data onto an SD card and finally my Discover Media unit could see the POIs! Finally!!
